StadtBibliothek Pirna
The StadtBibliothek Pirna is located in a former town house on Dohnaische Straße and Pirna's largest library. There is not only something to discover in terms of architectural history, but also the more than 60,000 books, magazines, games, films and music for young and old are worth a visit. Comfortable sofas and stools invite you to linger and browse.
The library is divided into three sections: Children and Family, Youth and School, and Lifelong Learning. In the children's library there are picture books for the youngest, in the parents' library guides, as well as a variety of school literature to borrow. Films, CDs, games and audio books also complete the diverse offer. The area of youth and school deals mainly with the new media, such as DVDs, CDs, Wii and PC games.
In addition to reference works, the school library also houses guides on career and study choice, school literature and young adult novels. In the field of lifelong learning, there are media on various subject areas, such as laws, travel guides, nutritionists, computer books for seniors, crime novels, novels and biographies.
In 2011, the StadtBibliothek Pirna became the winner of the "Saxon Library Prize" and in 2015 with the online network LieSa.
